Large
scale physics experiments for probing the fundamental
nature of the universe require the brain power of many of the
world’s brightest scientists - and they also require detectors
about the size of a house. To make sure these detectors are operating
correctly and able to detect the highly energetic subatomic particles
they are made to find, they simply must be calibrated correctly.
We have made massive (multi-thousand element) fiber optic systems
for calibrating these multi-million dollar particle detectors
and have provided these to several of the world’s premier
particle accelerator facilities.
Fusion reactors promise an inexhaustible
source of energy which would be much safer than the nuclear (fission)
reactors we now have. Diagnostics and characterization of the
plasma within the reactor is critical in the successful development
of this technology and requires highly specialized fiber optic
systems. High profile fusion experiments going on around the world
absolutely must have fiber optics that are precise and work every
